This afternoon my Mom and Dad called and I decided to tell them about Fields of Happy. I’d been trying to wait until I had the site launched but I got too excited! I described what I’d been working on and they were enthusiastic and eager to hear about it which was great. Aaaaaand then I showed them some of my mugs that I thought were pretty funny. Their response? CRICKETS. I found myself explaining why a mug was funny and the background to some of the phrases I used; never a good thing when you have to spell out to someone why something is funny. So, I learned that either these mugs are not comical, or that my parents are not my target demographic. Let’s hope it’s the latter. That means the second option. (Took me 35 years to get that right.)
I did get a chuckle or two from them on some of the designs, and they liked the floral ones and the quote ideas I have for some upcoming drafts. So that was affirming. Also, hilariously, my Mom thought the “Sorry I’m late, I didn’t want to come” mug was a sexual innuendo lol. Perhaps that one could be more like “I wanted to come, but I just couldn’t” or maybe “hope you don’t mind, I came early.”
Back to work now, I have so many ideas!
